A pair of shorts in a way is a symbol of freedom, which states that you are not culturally bound and that you are not ashamed to any extent to feel comfortable. People in the old days used to go on safaris and discoveries wearing nothing but a hat, shirt and shorts, which were mostly in the color of khaki.

The current trend of shorts, have people wearing them for different out going reasons. Here are a few of these explained briefly -

Home Shorts: When people get home, they normally like to get into something comfortable. Some men wear their boxers at home, as these are readily available even in brands in all sizes, considering that these boxers are mostly pure cotton they make wearing them very comfortable.

Beachwear shorts: Shorts worn at beaches are normally knee length and brightly colored. These are something along the same lines of Hawaiian Shirts. They will normal have flowery designs on them and are normally made of light cotton so that they fall well. The shorts are so deigned that people of any size or height can wear them and look good as these are easy to carry off as well.

Running shorts: These shorts are normally worn by people who run marathons. They are mostly meant to cover only the pelvic areas and not the thighs so as to minimize the resistance posed by clothes on the body in doing certain physical activity for a prolonged period of time. These shorts have a piece of cloth that goes under the fork between the thighs to reduce rubbing. They are made mostly of light weight synthetic material.

Jeans Short: These shorts are the typical western wear. They are more comfortable than a pair of jeans but the least comfortable where other shorts are concerned. They are however ideal for smart casual dressing as they look really smart when are worn either with heavy ankle boots or sports shoes.

Cargo Shorts: These are the ultra cool wear with many pockets, very good for those who like the outdoors and are always roaming with a haversack.

So, as long as it is not very cold, you can always find an excuse to wear shorts whatever the occasion may be.
